Spring Dresses

Spring-Dresses
Spring Dresses Compared to Fall and Winter Clothing

The identifying characteristics that make something a spring or summer dress are aspects like length, weight of material, and to some extent, color and print. Spring and summer dresses tend to have similar characteristics while fall and winter attire share similar characteristics. Fall and winter looks tend to display darker, richer colors, while their counterpart seasonal styles offer brighter, more vivid colors.

As with every season, the looks of each season tend to mimic the natural changes in nature. Although this in not a rule, people tend to gravitate towards matching their surroundings. In fall, women gravitate to rich neutrals, browns, dark maroons and rustic oranges or colors mimicking the changing tree colors. Winter gives way to more dark, neutral colors like black, gray and muted, toned down colors.

Spring dresses do the opposite. In spring and summer, bright, attention seeking colors spring up. Pastels flood the fashion landscape. They vibrant dresses take into consideration the spring weather and spring characteristics. Blooming flowers on the earth inspire floral prints. Gentle breezes inspire flowy, lightweight fabrics that drape loosely over the body.

In winter, many fashions are fitted, tailored and heavy weight for utility purposes with the goal of warmth in mind. You'll find plaid prints and tweed fabrics, also with warmth in mind. This is opposite in the spring and summer seasons. Fitted, tailored pieces or heavy draping sweaters are replaced with relaxed T-shirts, tunics, sleeveless tops and wispy dresses, inviting the sun and warm weather.

Spring represents new life appearing and the colors of spring dresses lend to this celebration. Notice the colors that spring up when new human life is brought into the world: baby blues, pinks, light yellows and mint greens. These pastels are synonymous with new life, whether for babies or for spring flowers. This palette of colors also inspires spring dresses.

In fall and winter, when people are covering up, prints take a back seat. In spring, prints are everywhere! People don't have to cover up anymore or stay indoors. They are out, playing and going on excursions. Their clothes have this easygoing personality a well. The clothes are also playful and fun; their prints and colors fit the mood of the season.
